In addition to the game engine, he utilized software like Maya, Zbrush, Houdini, Substance Painter, Megascan Textures, and SpeedTree to bring this demo to life. Inspired by the gameplay of Star Ocean: The Second Story, Xenogears on the PlayStation combines traditional role-playing elements with unique features like Square’s Active Time Battle system and martial arts combat. The game features two distinct battle systems: one for turn-based combat with human characters using learned combos, and another for battles involving mechanized “gears” with each character possessing their own stats and abilities.
