Apple has recently eased restrictions on emulators on the iPhone, leading to speculation about which retro consoles will be playable on the popular smartphone. A Game Boy emulator briefly topped the App Store charts before being removed for copyright violations, and now a NES emulator called Bimmy NES Emulator has also been taken down. This emulator, available for iPhone, iPad, and Apple silicon Macs, initially cost 99 cents but was later offered for free. Users were required to provide their own ROMs to use with the emulator, as it did not come with any games pre-installed.
actually, from the developer, Tom Salvo:
“I’m so sorry everyone. I removed the app out of fear. No one reached out to me pressuring me to remove it. But I’d rather not have the risk”
