Crater Song, a new NES game from developer Orebody Inc., is getting a physical release to carts thanks to retro publisher Premium Edition Games. The game uses a unique control method that requires two NES controllers to be used in the same way a player would use Switch Joycons. The gameplay comprises two brothers, bound by song and needing to work together to lift a curse. They use their songs to solve puzzles and avoid obstacles in this one-player co-op game.
The game is also heading to Steam later this year and will most likely take advantage of modern twin analogue sticks to function, but for those opting for an NES cart, make sure you have both controllers ready! It’s not every day players get the opportunity to play an old console in a new way so Crater Song feels like a special game for NES fans.
There are two options available to pre-order with an expected release date sometime in 2025. The standard edition called the Original NES edition, includes a standard grey NES cart, a full-colour manual, a numbered Challenge Card and a box with a dust jacket. The Silver NES edition includes all of the above but instead has a special silver cart. Both editions come with a limited edition dog tag when pre-ordered from the Premium Edition Games website.
