The Angry Video Game Nerd is a streamer who makes comedy videos attacking bad games, but later this year he’ll be on the other side of the screen when The Angry Video Game Nerd 8-Bit launches for NES and modern formats.
The Angry Video Game Nerd 8-Bit has been heavily inspired by classic side-scrollers like Mega Man. In the game, players will battle through frantic platforming levels to defeat classic AVGN enemies to save gaming from a corrupted monstrosity.
Developed by the retro-focused Mega Cat Studios, The Angry Video Game Nerd 8-bit will be available exclusively through Limited Run Games, with different editions to be announced at a later date. Starting today, the game is now available to wishlist on Steam. As an added bonus, fans can receive a free 11×24 poster on the game’s official site.
“The Angry Video Game Nerd 8-bit is packed with Pennsylvania Pride, as Pittsburgh-based developer Mega Cat Studios joins forces with Cinemassacre and Retroware, both located in the Philly area.”
The Angry Video Game Nerd 8-bit will be published by Retroware in Q2 2025 on NES and modern formats. Publisher Retroware state that they “develop, publish, make merch, and run arcades. To bring you retro experiences with modern conveniences.”
