Super Spy Raccoon is the latest release from Flynn’s Arcade, who specialize in publishing “neo-retro games”, or, in other words, games in a retro style for modern formats.
Like many of Flynn’s Arcade’s previous releases, Super Spy Racoon’s graphical style makes it look like it could’ve been a hit in arcades across the world back in the 1980s, but unlike those early coin-ops, Super Spy Racoon employs stealth as an integral part of its gameplay, or, in the words of the publishers, the game is “an imagining of a stealth game as an early 80’s arcade classic.” The publishers describe the game as follows: “your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to acquire all classified documents as you venture deeper and deeper into enemy territory. Hide, sneak, climb, and leap your way to victory! YOU MUST NOT BE SEEN!”
Super Spy Raccoon’s features include five single-screen levels that loop until you reach the kill screen, unlockable suit colors to match your sense of style, and both local and global leaderboards.
The game has been developed by Slain Mascot, and will be published by Flynn’s Arcade on December 19, 2024, when it will sneak onto the eshop, with a 20% discount during the game’s first week of release.
