In April of last year, Square Enix revealed that it was reassessing its development procedures for its “high-definition games”. Simultaneously, the company disclosed “content abandonment losses” totaling $141 million, hinting at potential game cancellations.
This week, the Japanese firm outlined its new business approach for the foreseeable future. Additionally, it confirmed the termination of several undisclosed games in progress that had never been publicly announced.
Square Enix clarified that these affected games do not align with the new plan in place for the current fiscal year. Looking ahead, the company aims to release its creations on all platforms and prioritize quality to meet the expectations of its community.
