Sega’s Crazy Taxi And Shinobi Reboots Leaked: Early Gameplay Footage Surfaces

Recently, early gameplay footage of Sega’s revival projects for the classic games Crazy Taxi and Shinobi has been leaked online. This footage provides a glimpse into Sega’s efforts to bring back these iconic franchises with modern twists.

Crazy Taxi Reboot

The leaked footage of the Crazy Taxi reboot suggests a shift towards a multiplayer-focused experience. Players are seen competing to pick up and drop off passengers in a fast-paced, racing-style format. This new iteration of Crazy Taxi is described as having an “innovative & fresh style driving action,” blending the freedom of the original with a fusion of nature and city environments. The footage, reportedly from a 2022 development build, indicates that the game is still in early stages and might not be released until 2027, potentially on the next-generation Nintendo Switch console.

Shinobi Revival

The Shinobi reboot footage is more limited, primarily showcasing the game’s opening cinematic and a brief gameplay sequence. The game is reportedly being developed by Lizardcube, known for their work on Streets of Rage 4. The footage features the protagonist, likely Joe Musashi, navigating through a forest and battling enemies. The game promises to deliver classic ninja action with a modern twist, maintaining the series’ stealth and combat elements.

These leaks follow Sega’s announcement at The Game Awards 2023, where they revealed plans to revive several of their legacy franchises, including Jet Set Radio, Golden Axe, and Streets of Rage, alongside Crazy Taxi and Shinobi. The early development footage offers fans a sneak peek at what Sega has in store, although the final products may differ as development progresses.
