Nintendo has added three classic SEGA Genesis games to the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack service: Mercs, ToeJam & Earl in Panic on Funkotron, and Vectorman. This marks the first SEGA Genesis update to the service in 2024, giving fans more retro titles to enjoy.
Overview of the New Additions:
- Mercs (Wolf of the Battlefield: Mercs)
A fast-paced arcade action shooter, Mercs puts players in the role of a U.S. mercenary unit tasked with rescuing a kidnapped former president. The game features two modes: a seven-mission Arcade Mode and an eight-mission Original Mode, each with unique objectives and gameplay styles. Players can use a variety of weapons, including machine guns and flamethrowers, while battling waves of enemies and bosses. - ToeJam & Earl in Panic on Funkotron
In this sequel to the cult-classic ToeJam & Earl, the funky alien duo returns to their home planet, Funkotron, only to discover it’s being invaded by Earthlings. This side-scrolling adventure tasks players with capturing the Earthlings and sending them back home while exploring colorful, action-packed levels filled with quirky humor and funky vibes. - Vectorman
Set in a dystopian future where Earth has become a toxic wasteland, players control Vectorman, a robot tasked with stopping a rogue leader named Raster. Known for its fluid animations and fast-paced shooting gameplay, Vectorman is one of the most visually impressive games on the Genesis, featuring stunning graphics and high-speed action.
These games are available now for Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscribers. Players can access them through the SEGA Genesis app on their Switch consoles. This update continues Nintendo’s trend of expanding its retro library, offering fans more opportunities to revisit iconic titles from gaming history.
