S.C.I.O.N. set to Blast onto ZX Spectrums Soon

S.C.I.O.N.

S.C.I.O.N. is a new run-and-gun shooter for the ZX Spectrum in which you’ll need to battle through dangerous jungle and oppressive swamps in order to infiltrate a secret underground lair. Just in case you were wondering, “S.C.I.O.N.” stands for “Special Covert Infiltration Operations Network.”

S.C.I.O.N. will be available for both 48K and 128K Speccies, with both versions playing identically, but with the 128K version also promising in-game music.

S.C.I.O.N. has been coded by Speccy developer Tom Potter, who has also created the graphics for the game. You can find out more about S.C.I.O.N. and Tom’s other ZX Spectrum games on his X feed, where he goes by the most splendid name of “QuentinPSausages”.

Retro publishers Bitmapsoft will be publishing S.C.I.O.N., with plans for a premium big box version, a standard small box version, and a digital download release. The latter of which would be ideal for playing on Retro Games Ltd.’s The Spectrum if you’ve been lucky enough to get your hands on one.

Games previously published by Bitmapsoft include Tom Potter’s well-received ZX Spectrum game based on the cult children’s ITV fantasy adventure gameshow Knightmare.

Our first impressions of S.C.I.ON. are highly favourable. The game looks like it’ll be an absolute blast. Look out for our definitive assessment of S.C.I.O.N. in our full review soon.
