Neon Inferno is a new run ‘n’ gun due to be released to all consoles and PC later in 2025. The retro-inspired game is being developed by Zenovia Interactive with publishing duties being handled by Retroware. The developers have cited Wild Guns and Contra as inspiration for the title with other influences coming from the cyberpunk genre. A new trailer has been published to announce the game and from the initial look, Neon Inferno looks to be shaping up nicely.
The game splits the action between foreground and background and features a variety of enemies and bosses. The game’s setting is in a dystopian New York City of 2055 where Angelo and Mariana take on a crime family striving for power against a corrupt NYPD in the war-torn metropolis. All this is brought to life with beautiful pixel art and a pumping neo-noir soundtrack in a glorious 32-bit style.
With “Bullet Time,” players can deflect certain projectiles back at enemies they choose regardless of whether they’re in the foreground or background. Neon Inferno also has multiple upgrades available to equip between missions, multiple difficulties, including an arcade mode, and a two-player co-op available.
