Freddy Farmer is the next retro arcade-style game to be released by indie publisher Flynn’s Arcade. If you read our review of their previous release, Super Spy Raccoon, you’ll know that we were big fans of how the game meshed old -school arcade platforming with stealth elements, and the upcoming retro arcade-style platformer Freddy Farmer looks like it could be yet another high scorer from Flynn’s Arcade.
In Freddy Farmer, Freddy’s daughter has been kidnapped by an evil dragon that lives on top of an abandoned castle, and the only way to rescue her is with a magic potion that only a mysterious wizard who lives in the forest can make, but to do so, poor old Freddy will need to collect very specific ingredients, which must then be mixed in a certain order using magical cauldrons that are spread throughout the kingdom.
With jumping the only action available to Freddy, he (i.e. you) must collect all these ingredients while trying to avoid all the enemies and dangers in his (your) path until he (you) reaches the cauldron of each of the levels having collected the ingredients in the correct order.
Freddy Farmer has been developed by Catcade Games, who describe the game as “an arcade platformer with pixel art graphics and 90’s style. Well, that certainly ticks a few of our boxes here at Retro News!
Freddy Farmer will be published on Nintendo Switch on February 27 2025, and on Steam on March 4 2025, and if you buy Freddy Farmer during its first week of release, you can benefit from a 20% discount on the standard price.
