Sony Interactive Entertainment Japan Asia has released the full, 123-second version of their special PlayStation 30th anniversary commercial featuring Japanese pop duo YOASOBI’s song “PLAYERS”. The extended commercial is set to premiere on the PlayStation Japan YouTube channel today, March 31, 2025, at 8PM JST.
This commercial is part of “Project: MEMORY CARD,” an initiative commemorating PlayStation’s 30th anniversary (celebrated on December 3, 2024) with the concept of “saving PlayStation memories in music”. YOASOBI wrote the song “PLAYERS” based entirely on PlayStation memories submitted by fans to Sony Interactive Entertainment through a special website.
The commercial features three characters: Maru (played by actor Nanase Nishino), Peke (voiced by Virtual YouTuber Usada Pekora), and Ki-3 (voiced by game streamer KIYO). The story follows them as they discover a mysterious Memory Card in Maru’s grandfather’s shop. When they plug it into an original PlayStation, they embark on a journey along the “Play Has No Limits” railway, traveling through various game worlds.

YOASOBI’s composer Ayase shared that the track is “packed with my love for games and the memories I’ve built growing up with them,” while vocalist ikura mentioned that her “own love for games is also deeply embedded in this performance“. The song features an energetic chant that builds into a pop anthem with a repeated chorus, with lyrics conveying how games empower players in real life.
The song “PLAYERS” is now available on all major music streaming platforms for those who want to listen to it separately from the commercial.
