Blazing Strike is a new pixel-art 2D fighting game that pays homage to the classics of yesteryear. This is the first game from solo developer RareBreed Makes Games with publishing duties being taken care of by Aksys Games. It’s now available digitally on Switch, PlayStation, and Steam with physical editions also available for consoles. A limited edition pack includes a full-colour 112-page art book, a CD soundtrack, and a set of collectable character cards featuring the roster of fighters.

The story is set in a post-apocalyptic world where human survival is on the brink. A group of determined fighters are on a mission to bring down the autocrats and save mankind. From the game trailer, we can see the gameplay looks heavily inspired by Street Fighter III and Garou: Mark of the Wolves. There are 14 playable fighters on Blazing Strike and two hidden characters with plans to release more as DLC in the future. It features online multiplayer that uses rollback netcode, a single-player story mode with cutscenes and a unique combo rush system.

“My vision with Blazing Strike is to make a fighting game enjoyable for all gamers regardless of their experience in the fighting game genre,” says creator Mark Chung. “Let’s bring back the nostalgia from the 90s and make it fun to play today!”
