Original Creator Of Flappy Bird Not Involved In Upcoming Comeback

The creator of the original Flappy Bird game, Dong Nguyen, has publicly stated that he is not involved with the upcoming revival of the game. This new version is being developed by a group called the Flappy Bird Foundation, which is not affiliated with Nguyen. He clarified on social media that he has no connection to the project and did not sell any rights to it. Additionally, Nguyen expressed his disapproval of the game’s association with cryptocurrency, stating, “I also don’t support crypto.”

The Flappy Bird Foundation acquired the rights to the game from Gametech Holdings, a company that had previously secured the trademark after Nguyen’s claim was terminated earlier in 2024. This new iteration of Flappy Bird is reportedly being developed with ties to blockchain technology and cryptocurrency, which has been a point of contention for Nguyen and some fans of the original game.

The revival is set to launch for web browsers in late October 2024, with plans to expand to mobile platforms in 2025. Despite the nostalgia surrounding the original game’s success, the involvement of blockchain technology has raised concerns among some fans.
