Palmer Luckey, founder of Oculus VR and Anduril Industries, has introduced his new side project called ModRetro. Their first product, Chromatic, is a colorful Game Boy handheld device featuring a custom sunlight-viewable LCD that perfectly replicates the Game Boy Color‘s specifications.
This handheld not only looks like the original Game Boy Color but also includes a magnesium-aluminum alloy shell, PBT semi-crystalline polymer buttons and d-pad, and full compatibility with all Game Boy titles. Additionally, it offers features such as a link cable and IR transceiver. The Chromatic is priced at $199 USD and will begin shipping in time for Christmas 2024.
The ModRetro Chromatic is the best way to play Game Boy® and Game Boy Color® games, my ultimate tribute to the most important handheld console of all time. @ModRetroHub @GameStop @Tetris_Official @KossHeadphones pic.twitter.com/E6BWx5I490
