There is more good retro news for Switch fans as three more Mega Drive titles have been added to the Nintendo Switch Online subscription service. Following news that the new Switch GameCube controller and titles will be exclusive to Switch 2, it is great to see the original model getting a few more games this week. The three titles are Streets of Rage, ESWAT and Super Thunder Blade.
Streets of Rage leads the lineup of what is a trio of arcade-style retro titles. It was first released in 1991 when Sega was finding new customers as console sales soared. This is the first time Mr. X tries to take over the city, and it’s up to Adam, Blaze and fan-favourite Axel to take him down. While not quite as good as its sequel, the first Streets of Rage game is still a fine brawler.
In regards to the other two titles, Super Thunder Blade is a port of the arcade original, and is worth playing to see the awesome parallax scrolling sprites going all over the screen. While ESWAT: City Under Siege is a great blaster with some well-thought-out gameplay.
