The announcement trailer for the new Shinobi: Art of Vengence title has put a lot of Sega fans on high alert for its impending August 2025 release. The game is being developed by Lizardcube who also worked on the popular Streets of Rage 4, another Sega franchise that enjoyed a reboot recently.
Whether players are new to the Shinobi series or have enjoyed it throughout its history, the new trailer certainly gives great hope it will be an excellent entry in Sega’s ninja Joe Meshasi. The game is sticking to its roots showcasing 2D action platforming with a unique hand-drawn look reminiscent of Streets of Rage 4. Players, as always, take on the role of Joe Mushasi. After finding his village burned to the ground and his clan turned into stone, he must set off on a quest for vengeance, ready to face an unparalleled evil and avenge your clan.
Shinobi: Art of Vengence is being released digitally to Xbox, Switch, PlayStation and Steam on 29th August 2025. Those who pay the extra for the deluxe version will be treated to playing the game three days earlier. It will also give them access to a season pass including a ghost outfit, medic lite amulet and some in-game currency. Furthermore, it includes a digital artbook and soundtrack to enjoy as well as access to the first planned DLC called Villains Stage.
Those wanting to keep things fully retro with a physical edition of Shinobi: Art of Vengence, will have the option of a Switch or PS5 version that is still yet to be available for pre-order.
