New run ‘n’ gun Terminator 2D announced

In a surprise announcement, legendary retro developer Bitmap Bureau confirmed it is working on a Terminator game titled Terminator 2D: No Fate. The side-scrolling action title will be released on the 5th of September 2025 and, according to the developer, has been in the works for about three years. Terminator 2D: No Fate will be published by Reef Entertainment for PC, Switch, Xbox and PlayStation, and there is already news of digital and physical editions. To make the news even more exciting, Bitmap Bureau has also confirmed that ports to retro platforms are already in the works.

 

The announcement was made with a great trailer that has already been viewed millions of times, which just shows how popular the Terminator franchise is as well as shows the appetite for this kind of game. Terminator 2D: No Fate is set during the events of the film Terminator 2: Judgement Day, where players control Sarah Connor and Arnie through a variety of thrilling missions as they take on the T-1000 and try to put a stop to Skynet’s plans before the human race is annihilated. Many of the film’s iconic scenes have been faithfully recreated in stunning pixel art, and this is sure to be a real hit when it arrives later in the year.
