A new Atari Jaguar release has been teased by homebrew Atari publishers Songbird productions. The new Atari Jaguar release in question is a remaster of Wings of Death, a shoot ‘em up that was originally released by Thalion Software for the 16-bit Atari ST and Commodore Amiga home computers back in 1990. A sequel to Wings of Death titled ‘Lethal Xcess’ followed a year later, in 1991, for the same formats, but there’s no word on whether the sequel will form part of this new Atari Jaguar release of Wings of Death from Songbird Productions. What’s notable about this Atari Jaguar remaster of the game is that, despite being a homebrew release, the Atari Jaguar remaster of Wings of death is being handled by the game’s original developer.
We previously reported on Songbird Productions porting on our 16-bit Atari ST classic to the 64-bit Atari Jaguar in the form of arcade racer Vroom.
Songbird Productions have teased this new Atari Jaguar release on their website, as part of their 2025 release schedule, which also includes represses of the Atari Jaguar games Wormhole 2000, SpideX, and Atari Karts. Seems like, thanks to Songbird Productions, 2025will be a good year to be an Atari Jaguar owner,, some 32 years after the console’s initial release,
