Dempa Micomsoft has announced further details about the upcoming miniaturized reproduction of the PC-8801 mkII SR, known as the PasocomMini PC-8801 mkII SR. This miniature version is set to be released in spring 2025 and will be priced at 33,000 yen. The device is a quarter-sized replica of the original PC-8801 mkII SR, complete with a small keyboard and casing developed by Aoshima Bunka Kyozai, a company known for its precise plastic models.
The PasocomMini PC-8801 mkII SR will feature the original PC’s specifications, including the ability to run BASIC programs and games from that era. It will come pre-installed with more than 10 games, and users will have the option to add more games via a microSD card. The device includes modern connectivity options such as HDMI output, USB 3.0 and 2.0 ports, and a headphone jack.
This release is part of the PasocomMini series, which aims to revive classic Japanese PCs in a compact form, allowing enthusiasts to experience retro computing on modern displays.
