The remaster of Metroid Prime 2: Echoes is reportedly scheduled for release in early 2025, according to leaks and speculation from credible sources. The remaster is expected to follow the success of Metroid Prime Remastered, which launched earlier in 2023 to critical acclaim. While Nintendo has yet to officially announce the release, insiders suggest that Prime 2 will feature enhanced visuals and quality-of-life updates similar to those seen in the remaster of the first game.
According to leaks, Metroid Prime 2 was originally intended for a standalone launch but faced delays, with its release now aligning with Nintendo’s strategy of building anticipation for Metroid Prime 4, which is also slated for a 2025 release. Some speculate that an announcement could occur at The Game Awards or a Nintendo Direct early next year, given the timing and Nintendo’s pattern of shadow-dropping remasters, as seen with Prime 1 Remastered and other recent titles like Pikmin 1+2.
The remaster is expected to retain the darker tone and dual-world mechanics that defined Prime 2: Echoes, while likely incorporating modern enhancements such as improved controls, updated lighting, and higher-resolution textures. Fans are also hopeful for tweaks to streamline some of the game’s more complex backtracking elements.
The release of Metroid Prime 2 Remastered would mark another step in making the entire Prime trilogy accessible on the Nintendo Switch before the arrival of Prime 4. If these rumors hold true, fans can look forward to revisiting one of the series’ most challenging and atmospheric entries in early 2025.
It is very peculiar how Nintendo has handled the 3 games, with releases more than a year after their completion, in fact they can release them whenever they want. Personally I wouldn't rule out an announcement of them at TGA, as timing would fit, but I have no information on that
