UPDATE! Since this story was published, Blaze Entertainment have confirmed that the Metal Dragon & Life on Mars Evercade cartridge will be released in December 2024, with pre-orders opening on 30th October 2024. This will be the final Evercade cartridge release of 2024.
To prove just how vibrant the Evercade scene is, it was only yesterday that we reported on the official announcement of a new cartridge for the platform, and today, news of another Evercade cartridge has already seemingly leaked, with Amazon UK listing a Metal Dragon & Life on Mars Evercade cartridge for pre-order.
In what seems to be becoming a regular occurrence, Amazon have listed a forthcoming Evercade cartridge that has not yet been officially announced by Evercade owners Blaze Entertainment. The leaked cartridge contains two games, Metal Dragon and Life on Mars.
Both games were developed by Spanish retro developers Kai Magazine, who specialize in making new games for old hardware. Both games were originally released for the 8-bit MSX2 home computer format before enhanced ports were released for other formats, including Sega Genesis, and while there are obviously no official details at the time of writing, based on past Evercade releases, it is likely that the Genesis versions will be the ones included on the Evercade release.
Metal Dragon is an old-school arcade-style shoot’ em up, whereas Life on Mars is a Metroidvania-style game that draws inspiration from the Alien films. The Metal Dragon & Life on Mars Evercade cartridge will be released on December 12, according to the cartridge’s Amazon listing. We expect that an official announcement confirming the release will be made by Blaze Entertainment soon.
