BB Studio is a hacked version of the Game Boy development tool GB Studio, which is a drag and drop Game Boy game creator developed by Chris Maltby, which has been used by several homebrew developers to create all-new homebrew Game Boy games.
And now, an enterprising coder called Michel Iwaniec has created a hack for GB Studio to create BB Studio, which allows you to use GB Studio’s drag and drop tools to create NES games.
We’re sure that many of you out there dreamt of creating your own games as children, and while this was possible on home computers (if you had the patience and brain power to learn how to program), it wasn’t quite such an accessible endeavor on games consoles such as the NES, until now that is! BB Studio is so named because the NES is the Big Brother of the Game Boy. You can learn more about how to get and how to use BB Studio at the project’s Github page.
Michel Iwaniec recommends making yourself familiar with GB Studio before trying out BB Studio. Chris Maltby’s GB Studio is available on Windows, Mac and Linux from this link.
