Macross shmup Super Dimension Fortress Macross has been announced as a forthcoming title to be added to Hamster Corp.’s Arcade Archives series, which has been bringing a wide selection of old-school arcade titles to PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch on a weekly basis since 2014.
Hamster Corp. would appear to have a never-ending treasure trove of titles to unearth out of the archives for their Arcade Archives series, as it was only this week that we reported that the 1993 beat ‘em up Metamorphic Force had joined the series, and now we already have confirmation of another retro arcade title that will be heading to the series later this year.
The Macross game in question is Super Dimension Fortress Macross, which is a 1992 vertically scrolling shoot ‘em up by Banpresto, and which is based on the long-running mecha anime series Macross, which made its debut as a TV series in 1982, before transferring to various other types of media, including manga and video games. This particular Macross game was originally released in the West under the title Super Spacefortress Macross.
Hamster Corp. will release the Arcade Archives edition of Super Dimension Fortress Macross on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch on December 26 2024.
