System 3, the developer of The Last Ninja series, has announced the release of The Last Ninja Collection, which will bring the classic beat ’em up series to PC and Nintendo Switch. This collection will be funded through a Kickstarter campaign launching on September 10, 2024, with the game expected to be available in early 2025.
The collection will include:
- The Last Ninja
- Last Ninja 2
- Last Ninja Remix
- Last Ninja 3
Additionally, the collection will feature other System 3 games such as:
- International Karate
- International Karate+
- Bangkok Knights
These games will be available in their Commodore 64 editions, with additional versions for the Commodore Amiga 500 and ZX Spectrum where possible. Players will be able to select these versions from a special submenu.
Kickstarter Campaign
The Kickstarter campaign will offer backers the opportunity to purchase two additional DVD CD-ROMs containing unfinished projects related to The Last Ninja and International Karate series. These include work-in-progress demos of Last Ninja 4 from 2002 and 2018, and a fully playable demo of the abandoned game IK++.
Mark Cale, CEO of System 3, expressed excitement about bringing The Last Ninja Collection to Kickstarter, highlighting the series’ influence before the Souls-like genre became popular. He emphasized the importance of preserving video games and securing a physical legacy for future generations.
