Konami has recently released new character profiles for the first game on the official site of the Suikoden 1 and 2 HD Remaster, including updated information about the five main characters from Suikoden 2. This update provides a deeper understanding of their backgrounds, artwork, and sprites for Riou, Jowy, Nanami, Viktor, and Flik.

As all five characters are playable, players can explore their designs and sprites in detail. Riou, the protagonist, is depicted as having grown up with Jowy and his adopted sister, Nanami. They were taken in and trained by a warrior named Genkaku. The game begins with Riou and Jowy joining the Highland Unicorn Youth Brigade. However, events take a turn, leading Riou to encounter Flik and Viktor, who are returning characters from Suikoden and head a mercenary group in Suikoden 2.
