With the release date now set for Suikoden I and II HD Remaster, Konami has updated the official site to provide profiles for the main characters from the first game. The five characters introduced include the four initial companions of the protagonist, who is canonically named Tir McDohl.
Konami’s initial character profiles contain no spoilers for Suikoden 1. Each profile includes a brief summary of the character, alongside official art and glimpses of their in-game sprites, both in the world and during battles. The first character revealed is the hero Tir McDohl. His profile indicates that he is the son of the renowned warrior Teo, embarking on his own journey to become a warrior. At the game’s outset, he is joined by his best friend Ted and his guardians Gremio, Pahn, and Cleo on a mission.
Gremio, Pahn, and Cleo are characterized as loyal servants of Teo who have been pivotal in the hero’s life since childhood. Gremio, in particular, has also served as a mentor, while Pahn and Cleo were more closely involved in assisting Teo McDohl. On the other hand, Ted is described simply as a survivor of war.

Although the weapon types are not explicitly mentioned in the profiles, the character sprites provide insight into their combat styles. Tir wields a staff, Gremio an axe, and Pahn utilizes his fists, placing them in the front row during battles. Conversely, Cleo uses darts, and Ted is an archer, making them more suited for the back row.
Suikoden I and II HD Remaster is set to launch on PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch on March 6, 2025. The original titles were released on PlayStation globally and later compiled in a collection for the PSP in Japan.
