Hamster Corporation was founded on November 11, 2004, when the games division of Toshiba-EMI Ltd was spun off into its own company, which had the aim of making and selling video game software, as well as creating websites.
Early video game titles from Hamster Corp. were released for a number of formats including PlayStation, PlayStation 2, PC, and Nintendo 3DS. These days, Hamster Corporation is almost certainly best known for its long-running Arcade Archives series, which began in 2014, and which releases emulated arcade titles for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch, as regular readers of this site will already know, as we previously reported on Hamster Corp. recently releasing Metamorphic Force, Super Dimension Fortress Macross, and The Quest of Ki as part of their Arcade Archives series.
Making it to a quarter of a century is no mean feat in the increasingly cutthroat games industry, so all of us here at Retro News would like to wish Hamster Corporation a very happy 25th birthday, and we hope that they continue to plunder the Arcade Archives to bring even more retro arcade goodness to modern formats!
