Digital Eclipse’s Gold Master series is a range of “interactive documentaries” that combine museum-style video, text, and image content with “best-in-class emulation of games” to offer gamers the chance to take a deep dive into the histories of developers and video games of particular historical importance, as well as offering the chance to play the games in question. There have been three Gold Master titles released so far: The Making of Karateka, Llamasoft: The Jeff Minter Story, and Tetris Forever.
However, to date the Gold Master series has only been available to purchase digitally. Until now, that is, as Digital Eclipse have announced physical releases of the titles for the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5, which will include Standard Editions available for $34.99 (€34.99). Deluxe Editions for The Making of Karateka and Llamasoft: The Jeff Minter Story, featuring special packaging and unique collectibles, which will be available for $69.99 (€69.99). and a Collector’s Edition for Tetris Forever, will be available for $139.99 (€139.99) and includes special packaging, collectibles, and an exclusive handheld unit featuring two Tetris games.
Pre-orders for all physical editions of the Gold Master Series titles open on February 25, 2025 at atari.com, limitedrungames.com, Amazon, and selected other retailers internationally.
