We brought you the news that Sigma Star Saga DX, a GBA title from 2005, was being re-released way back in July 2024. Publisher WayForward, which is teaming up with Limited Run Games for the release, has since announced that pre-orders for the new carts are now live until April 6th 2025. The game isn’t just getting published to GBA carts either, the game has been tweaked with updates and refinements.
Sigma Star Saga DX retains all of the gameplay and content of the original release but adds numerous refinements, including an improved map, decreased random encounter rate, rebalanced EXP system, modified hit boxes, adjusted auto-fire, enhanced dialogue, additional save points, assorted bug fixes and quality-of-life updates, and more. You can pre-order the Game Boy Advance cart at Limited Run Games in both standard and collector’s editions.
“Sigma Star Saga DX is a new and improved version of this classic sci-fi shooter/adventure, polished and refined by the original 2005 dev team,” says Sigma Star Saga creator Matt Bozon. “We collected 20 years of fan feedback and made this beloved game even better! Now, players who missed out two decades ago can finally experience this truly inspired and experimental genre mashup, and players who enjoyed the game back in the day will want to add this new, faster-paced, harder-hitting version to their collections!”
