The Grand Theft Auto III fan port for the Sega Dreamcast, developed by SKMP, is currently in development. DreamSDK3 and KalistiOS are being used to create the port, utilizing assets from the PC version. The development process involves debugging in the reicast Dreamcast emulator, using the refsw software renderer debugger, and SDL-DREAMHAL.
Challenges include requiring a 32MB mod for expanded memory, VRAM issues, and rewriting engine components for Dreamcast compatibility. The port is in early development stages with Sega fans closely monitoring its progress.
