The release was announced on January 24, 2025, following years of development and testing.

- Enhanced Features: While still in beta (version 5.01), the port includes a single-player mode, two-player versus mode, and even a casual mode with no health bars or timers. Planned updates include restoring fatalities, babalities, friendships, and full morphing capabilities for Shang Tsung.
- Technical Challenges Overcome: Despite the 3DO’s hardware limitations (1MB VRAM and 2MB DRAM), the developers have managed to optimize the game to run smoothly while maintaining visual fidelity comparable to the arcade original.
