Famicom Detective Club

Famicom Detective Club is a trilogy of adventure games developed and published by Nintendo for the Family Computer Disk System and Nintendo Switch. The first game, The Missing Heir, came out in 1988, followed by a prequel the next year called The Girl Who Stands Behind. In these games, players become a young man solving murder mysteries in the Japanese countryside.

These games marked Yoshio Sakamoto’s first writing project before his success with Metroid. Famicom Detective Club inspired by Enix’s The Portopia Serial Murder Case, horror films by Dario Argento, and detective novels by Seishi Yokomizo, both games were well-received by critics in Japan.
