Driftin’ Rage A New 16-Bit Racing Game For Mega Drive/Genesis

Mauro Xavier, a developer known for Final Fight MD, has announced a new game called Driftin’ Rage for the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis. This 16-bit racing game is inspired by classics like OutRun and Top Gear. He shared the news on Twitter, along with a 2-minute video showcasing the title screen, driver profiles, a music selection menu, and a basic time-attack mode.

The video showcases a racing game where players can choose from various drivers and car models, each with unique stats that influence track performance. Driver skills include strength, dexterity, intelligence, and luck, while car features encompass speed, defense, handling, and “Turbo.” Additionally, players can customize their in-game music through a radio, similar to the classic OutRun, with tracks utilizing the Mega Drive’s YM2612 sound chip. More details about the project are expected to be revealed soon, as indicated by Xavier.
