A Data East Super Pocket handheld was announced during yesterday’s Evercade Showcase stream, along with the Neo Geo Super Pocket on which we reported yesterday.
The Data East Super Pocket will come with 18 on-board Data East arcade titles, which will include BurgerTime, Super BurgerTime, Bad Dudes vs. Dragon Ninja, Joe & Mac: Caveman Ninja, Joe & Mac Returns, Karate Champ, BreakThru, Burnin’ Rubber, Crude Buster, Gate of Doom (Dark Seal), Lock ’n’ Chase, Peter Pepper’s Ice Cream Factory, Spinmaster, Edward Randy, Tumblepop, and Wizard Fire (Dark Seal II).
As per all other Super Pocket handhelds, the Data East Super Pocket will be released by Evercade owners Blaze Entertainment’s HyperMegaTech subsidiary, and in addition to the 18 on-board games, the Data East Super Pocket will also be compatible with Evercade cartridges.
The Data East Super Pocket is scheduled to be released in June 2025, with pre-orders now open.
This is the final item that we are reporting on from yesterday’s Evercade Showcase presentation, and it’s arguably the least exciting for long-term Evercade fans, as several of these games have already appeared on Evercade via the Data East Collection 1 and 2 cartridges, albeit with some appearing as console version as opposed to the arcade versions that are included on the Data East Super Pocket.
