Croc Remaster: New Versions Announced, Release Delayed

Croc Collector's Edition digital version

We previously reported on the announcement of an upcoming remaster of Croc: Legend of the Gobbos, reporting on the GOG exclusive and the physical Collector’s Editions.

Over the past couple of days, the game’s developer, Argonaut Games have taken to X to issue two updates regarding the release.

The first update was announcing new version of the game’s Collector’s Edition, in addition to the Switch and PS5 versions, which were previously announced. These versions of the game will include a digital code for the game for PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, or PC, along with a DVD case including a full color printed manual, an eight-inch Croc statue with a certificate of authenticity, a four-disc original soundtrack, a Crock keychain, and a double-sided poster. These version are now available for pre-order from publisher Rock It Games.

However, it’s not all good news for Croc fans, as a later X post from Argonaut Games announced that the release of the Croc remaster is to be delayed, making it something of a case of “see you later, alligator, in a while, crocodile!”

Argonaut Games say that “the decision was not made lightly”, but “ a little more time is needed to add the final touches to ensure the game meets the high standards that [they] aspire to, and which you deserve.”

While this news is no doubt disappointing to Croc fans, it’s rather heartening to see a developer who cares enough about the product they’re releasing, rather than rushing it out in an incomplete state as a cash grab.
