A new ROM hack called Castlemania from LetsTalkGames blends the platforming style of Super Mario with the aesthetics and challenging gameplay of early Castlevania titles. The developer aims to evoke nostalgia through features like instant-death blocks, hidden secrets, and familiar enemies, while maintaining the NES difficulty.
Although the level design reflects Super Mario, the visuals draw from iconic Castlevania environments, complemented by a soundtrack of tracks from various Konami games. Players will face engaging challenges with clear objectives, but the hack preserves its notorious difficulty, granting save progress only after completing all six levels and requiring players to restart from the beginning after a GAME OVER. In response to feedback, an easy mode has been introduced, allowing for progress saving after each level.
