We recently brought you the news that Captain Soda, a new retro-style arcade shooter, will seek funding for a Kickstarter campaign. Since then, the game has hit its target and will be released on Steam, Switch, and Xbox later in 2025. In a statement, publisher Leoful said. “Today, Leoful is excited to announce that fizzy arcade shooter Captain Soda’s crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter has been successfully funded.” The game has been developed by Canadian solo indie Ray Flower Games, and is an arcade platform shooter where you play as a pop bottle hero defending your home planet from an invading alien force.
The Kickstarter campaign will run until the 19th of April 2025, and there is a variety of physical and digital rewards are being prepared for backers, such as a Nintendo Switch physical copy with backer-exclusive stickers to transform your soda bottles into soda heroes, as well as a digital Original Soundtrack with tracks composed by Aleix Ramon.
Those wanting to try before backing the project still have time to try the Steam demo, which features three levels selected from the full version of the game. In the press statement, there was also confirmation that Captain Soda will include accessibility options, end-of-level bosses, 18 different enemy types, lots of upgrade options for your heroes, a full campaign, as well as an endless mode.
