Marvel vs. Capcom fans have reason to be excited, as Capcom producer Shuhei Matsumoto has expressed strong interest in developing a new entry in the beloved fighting game series. In a recent interview, Matsumoto revealed that the Capcom team shares a desire to create a new Marvel vs. Capcom game and provided insight on how fans can help make it happen.
Matsumoto emphasized that while commercial success is a factor, fan support is even more crucial in potentially greenlighting a new Marvel vs. Capcom title. He stated, “I think the fans who continue to cheer us on and show their support for the series are more powerful. This is especially the case since this is a project that can’t be realized by Capcom alone.” This highlights the importance of the Marvel license and the need for collaboration between Capcom and Marvel.
The producer’s comments come alongside the release of Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics, which brings together seven classic titles from the series. This collection not only allows longtime fans to revisit beloved games but also introduces newer players to the franchise’s rich history. Matsumoto sees this as an important step, stating, “The best thing that we can do right now is to re-release these classic titles that some of our fans may not be fully aware of.” By gauging interest in these re-releases, Capcom can better assess the potential for a new entry in the series. Matsumoto also emphasized in an interview that while he wants a new entry, fan support will play a crucial role in making it happen, revealing how their continued enthusiasm could help shape the future of the Marvel vs. Capcom franchise.
