18 Square Enix feature phone games, including Before Crisis: Final Fantasy VII and various Kingdom Hearts titles, were believed lost but have been found. Twitter user @NaoyaShinota discovered them on a DoCoMo P-04B phone using a debug cable method. Some games can be played on the DoJa emulator, while others require more work, like Before Crisis needing a local server connection to function. RockmanCosmo is getting help for this effort and encourages others to join in on the Kahvibreak Discord server.
BC communicated with SE's servers to download scripts and other game data, but it also stored many assets on the phone's local storage.
