Backyard Baseball charity event reaches $5000

Backyard Baseball

We recently reported that Backyard Baseball was returning with the release of five new games on Steam. To celebrate the news, publisher Mega Cat Studios has put on a charity streaming event to support children with cancer. Originally setting a modest goal of $1,997, the event smashed expectations and has now raised over $5000. The streaming event concluded on October 20th, not only celebrating the nostalgia of the Backyard Baseball franchise but also demonstrating that together gaming communities can hit a home run for those in need.

“The Backyard Baseball community knocked it out of the park, sending cancer back to the dugout, raising over 4000 dollars on our first night of the campaign,” said Jim Westerkamp, host of the Backyard Sports Online kickoff stream.

The first game in the celebrated Backyard Sports series, Backyard Baseball 1997, is now available to purchase on Steam. Subsequent titles in the franchise, including Backyard Soccer ‘98, Backyard Football ‘99, Backyard Baseball ‘01, Backyard Basketball ‘01, and Backyard Hockey ‘02, will soon be available on the platform and are available to wishlist today.
