ArcadeMania is an arcade emulator for iOS, but unlike MAME4iOS, ArcadeMania is officially available on Apple’s App Store.

ArcadeMania uses MAME to emulate arcade machines, but obviously, no ROMs are included in the download.

ArcadeMania is compatible with iPhones, iPads, and iPod touches running iOS 13.4 or later, as well as with Macs running macOS 11.0 or later and with an M1 chip or later, as well as  with Apple Vision running visionOS 1.0 or later.

ArcadeMania is a free download from the App Store.

ArcadeMania has been created by Yoshi Sugawara, using the open source MAME version 0.269 as its core.


Yoshi Sugawara recommends using ArcadeMania with a controller for the best experience.

The first few reviews of ArcadeMania suggest that it works very well. Let’s just hope that Apple don’t have a change of heart and pull the emulator from the store, as Apple famously treat their App Store as a “walled garden” to prevent potentially harmful or illegal apps from appearing on the iOS ecosystem, and until now, nobody has managed to keep a version of MAME on the App Store for long. However, it does look as though with ArcadeMania, Apple devices do finally have a version of MAME that they can run without resorting to jailbreaking their devices!
