Andrea Contato’s Video Game History Project Nears Its Deadline

Video game history fans have a great chance to help in the final days of a Kickstarter campaign that aims to preserve early gaming’s rich heritage. The project, called Video Games: The People, Games, and Companies Part II, is created by Andrea Contato. He is seeking funds to translate and publish two books that explore key moments in gaming from 1980 to 1984.

The campaign features a second book, The Sumerian Game: A Digital Resurrection, which explores one of the earliest digital strategy games created for the IBM 7090 mainframe and its influence on future game design. The book offers in-depth insights into the game’s history, programming, design, and its creators. As the campaign nears its conclusion with just over 30 hours remaining, it has garnered interest for its extensive research and dedication to documenting a pivotal moment in video gaming. Backers can expect to receive historical information, rare documents, diagrams, and photos to help them recreate The Sumerian Game.

If you’re interested in the early years of gaming, visit the Kickstarter page and consider supporting the project before it ends.
