Tanuki Justice is a retro-inspired action platformer released for Steam, Switch and PlayStation in 2021. It has since seen several physical editions released, but now publisher PixelHeart has gone full circle and announced a demake of the game for the Game Boy Color. The development of the new version of Tanuki Justice has been handled by Maxine Schutz who has worked with PixelHeart before for the release of the Game Boy title Lost Terminal.
The game is ready to pre-order on PixelHeart’s website and includes the cartridge, a card box with a cart tray, a full-colour manual, a sticker set and a certificate confirming this limited release of only 500 units. Those who choose to pre-order can expect their copy to arrive on 18th March 2025.
PixelHeart has described the game as fast-paced and includes shooter as well as racing gameplay. It features dozens of enemies and special moves, all set in feudal Japan. The original game was well-received by critics and gamers, so we feel confident that this will translate well to the GBC.
