Gamer Builds The Tiniest-Ever Nintendo Wii, Calls it Short Stack

The Wii XL is the largest Nintendo Wii console currently available, boasting functionality that sets it apart from the standard sizes. On the other end of the spectrum, Short Stack claims the unofficial title of being the smallest working Nintendo Wii. This mini console is approximately the size of a deck of cards and houses a modified Wii motherboard measuring just 62x62mm.

Despite its compact size, Short Stack manages to retain essential components such as the CPU, GPU, RAM, and storage capacity. To achieve this diminutive form factor, non-essential features like the original power components, USB, Bluetooth, and GameCube ports were omitted and replaced with custom circuit boards directly connected to the motherboard. A 3D-printed case with a sliding side for GameCube controller ports adds a practical touch, while a custom-cut acrylic piece mimicking the original Wii’s disc slot lights gives it that classic aesthetic appeal.

I'm Mubarak AlSabah, born in '87, and I'm a big fan of retro games. I’ve been gaming since '93, so it's been a lifelong passion for me. Collecting retro games is my favorite hobby, and I have a great collection that takes you back in time. In addition to gaming, I also have 830+ premium domain names, which is another hobby that I love just as much. I started collecting domains in '97, combining my interest in the digital world with my love for nostalgic gaming.
