Nintendo recently announced the shutdown of online services for the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS systems, which included the SpotPass service used to distribute data for certain games. Despite this, a group successfully archived a significant amount of SpotPass data through user-submitted dumps, amassing over 15,000 3DS dumps and 7,500 Wii U dumps.
They plan to publish an archive of this data in the future. Thanks to their efforts, various network revival services will continue to distribute SpotPass content for many games, allowing players to access features even after Nintendo’s shutdown.
The group also has plans to archive SpotPass data for specific games like the StreetPass Mii Plaza, with more information to come. Their work ensures that players can continue to enjoy these features long after the official shutdown.
