Konami of Japan has announced today, for the third consecutive year, an increase in the base salaries of its full-time employees in Japan. The starting salary for new employees will also rise from the current 295,000 yen to 300,000 yen.

This salary adjustment is set to commence in March 2025 and will benefit all of Konami’s full-time employees in Japan, including those at the company’s headquarters. The increase will amount to an additional 5,000 yen per month, totaling an annual raise of 60,000 yen. However, this pay raise does not apply to certain group companies in Japan nor to some positions.

In addition, with the increase in salaries for full-time employees, the starting salary for new employees joining from March 2025 will be increased from 295,000 yen to 300,000 yen; bonuses and dividends will be calculated separately.

This marks the continuation of Konami’s policy from 2023 and 2024 to raise employee wages again in 2025.

Konami’s recent decision to increase salaries is seen as a positive development for gamers, as it suggests a potential improvement in the quality of their popular game franchises. The prospect of higher wages for developers raises hopes that they will be able to put more effort and creativity into developing new titles.

This could lead to a renaissance in AAA games, with classics like Castlevania, Suikoden, and Bomberman being not just revived but taken to the next level. For fans looking for more engaging gameplay and immersive experiences, this salary boost could mark the start of an exciting new era in gaming, bringing back beloved titles with the innovation and depth they deserve.
