Classic 1998 DOKAPON RPG Gets Remaster, Now Available on Switch

DOKAPON! Sword of Fury has just made a surprise debut on Nintendo Switch in the western market. The announcement came today, April 16, 2025, with the game launching on the Nintendo eShop without any prior marketing or reveal.

This remastered version of the 1998 PlayStation title is priced at $24.99, though it’s currently available at a discounted price of $19.99 until May 7, 2025. The game initially launched in Japan on August 1, 2024, followed by a worldwide PC release via Steam on January 21, 2025.


DOKAPON! Sword of Fury
blends board game mechanics with RPG and party game elements. Players spin a wheel to move across a vast map, battling monsters, buying equipment, and leveling up characters — all while trying to become the wealthiest player in the game world.

The remaster includes several modern upgrades:

  • HD and widescreen display support

  • Online multiplayer functionality

  • Autosave feature for mid-game pausing

  • Speed options up to 5x faster gameplay

  • Customizable settings including battle music from older titles

  • Adjustable game balance and week count
