Homebrew Factory Claim a Revolution for Retro Gamers

Homebrew Factory text with heart logo

Homebrew Factory is a new platform aimed at developers of homebrew games for old consoles, and for retro gamers looking to buy physical copies of homebrew games for old consoles.

Homebrew developers can sign up to the Homebrew Factory Creator platform to publish and sell physical copies of games that they have developed for Famicom/NES, Game Boy/Game Boy Color, or Genesis/Mega Drive.

Homebrew Factory say that they can accommodate designing and ordering cartridges for both “small and big” releases.

Developers get to design their cartridges, with options for cartridge color, packaging, and more. Once designed, Homebrew Factory handle the manufacturing and shipping. There’s even the option for developers to run pre-order campaigns to fund the production of their cartridges. Alternatively, there’s the option to pay up front.

Homebrew Factory also offer a “Fulfilment by Homebrew Factory” service for developers who have already had their cartridges manufactured elsewhere.

Once manufactured, the games will be sold via the Homebrew Factory store, on which there are currently 35 games in stock at the time of writing, including the likes of Flea!, Tapeworm Disco Puzzle, and more.

In addition to the 35 titles currently in stock, one of the games currently up for pre-order is Chibi Monster Brawl for NES, on which we previously reported.

Homebrew Factory is the brainchild of homebrew publishers Broke Studio, who are  the publishers of tiles such as the NES game Micro Mages.
Homebrew Factory launched on March 26th, 2025, and it seems like a great idea for homebrew developers looking to make collectible physical editions of their games, and for collectors and retro gamers looking for homebrew titles that  they can play on their original retro console hardware.
