Square Enix Drops SaGa Frontier 2 Remastered During Nintendo Direct

Square Enix has surprised fans with the announcement and immediate release of SaGa Frontier 2 Remastered, a revitalized version of the beloved 1999 RPG. The game is now available on multiple platforms, including Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, PC via Steam, iOS, and Android.


This remastered edition brings several enhancements to the classic game:

  • Fully enhanced HD visuals, maintaining the signature watercolor-style graphics

  • Revamped UI and gameplay systems for more intuitive play

  • New story content supervised by SaGa Franchise General Director Akitoshi Kawazu

  • Additional gameplay features like Parameter Inheritance and New Game+

  • The “Dig! Dig! Diggerminigame, previously exclusive to Japan’s PocketStation peripheral

SaGa Frontier 2 Remastered follows the intertwined stories of Gustave, a royal heir struggling with power, and Wil, an excavator facing a hidden, world-threatening danger. The game retains its non-linear gameplay and multiple narrative paths, allowing players to explore pivotal moments from different perspectives.

This release is part of Square Enix’s ongoing effort to revitalize the SaGa franchise, following recent titles like SaGa Emerald Beyond and Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven.
